We had the privilege of planning a fun and fashionable birthday party in Ottawa for two amazing women. These two best friends trusted us with all the details of their celebration and we had a blast planning it and bringing it to life.

The colour scheme was black, gold and peach for a sophisticated, bold and stylish look. Guests were greeted by sparkling rose cocktails in peach champagne glasses with floating blackberries. The main bar boasted a signature drink served in a vintage gold striped pitcher along with personalized straw flags and a variety of liquors and wines. For dinner, guests were offered salmon sashimi, quinoa salad cups, lamb chops and jumbo shrimps along with an assortment of antipasto and cheeses.

The main focal point of the party was the sweet table which was filled with sweets expertly created by Sophie Bifield of Sophie Bifield Cake Company. The table included mini vanilla cupcakes, french macarons, gold tipped meringues, chocolate dipped marshmallows, salted caramel bars and a beautiful butter-cream birthday cake. The desserts matched the colour palate perfectly and each treat was incredibly tasty!

For late night treats, black and white striped boxes of popcorn were handed out. And lastly, mini champagne bottles with striped straws were given out as a thank you to each guest. Other decor details included DIY fringe balloons, chalkboard food labels, colourful ‘cheer’s and ‘HBD2U’ buntings and custom chocolate bars. No details were spared and we think the party was a giant success! The event was expertly shot by Tracy Fledderus from Melanie Rebane Photography.

Rachel + Jamie

Rachel and Jamie were married on February 17, 2013 on a beautiful (and freezing) winter day in Jordan, Ontario. On our first meeting together, Rachel and Jamie both expressed their desire for a wedding that was original, laid-back, vintage-feeling and, of course, fun. Working with them was truly special and the wedding came together flawlessly.

Balls Falls Church held the intimate ceremony of 100 guests while the pair were married by their dear friend, Nestore. It brought a unique element to have their good friend perform the ceremony as he knows the pair so well and was able to truly connect with them. Our favourite decor detail was the wine barrels covered with baby’s breath.

The reception was help at the Inn on the Twenty. From vintage Polaroid escort cards to a wine cork ‘guest book’, it is safe to say that their vision was brought to life. The room glowed with candlelight and Rachel and Jamie beamed with joy and emotions. Our favourite decor detail were the bottle table numbers that were specifically made for this event. The night capped off (for us at least) with a sweet table of the couple’s favourite candies and homemade treats from loved ones. Oh and they also had hot chocolate shots, the perfect add-on for a winter affair! Guests were sent home with spiced nuts as favors that read, “Live Life With a Little Spice!”.

First Birthday Par-TEA

As soon as Sydney was born her mom, Gillian, knew she wanted her little girl to have a Tea Party. Gillian has been collecting vintage tea cups for many years and thought it would be a nice way to make use of them (before moving them out of reach from a toddler). And what’s more girly than a tea party?

To kick off the ‘par-tea’, guests were greeted with a Tea Bar. Coffee cups were adorned by custom sleeves and we had an assortment of teas and their accessories to choose from. To nibble on, guests were offered ‘par-tea’ sandwiches, a variety of scones, quinoa salad, berries and more. We created place-mats for each guest and lined the tables with different tea pots and tea cups filled with white, pink and green floral arrangements.

The sweet table was inspired by the pale pink ruffle birthday cake. We found a ruffled tablecloth that matched it perfectly and filled the table with cake pops, meringues, sugar tea-bag cookies and cake. Desserts were served and enjoyed on vintage saucers.

For favors, the little girls were given polka dot tea pots and the boys were given ceramic traveler mugs. Each favor had a thank you tag from the birthday girl.

Cake Smash!

Cake Smash shoots have become very trendy for babies and we were thrilled to style one this weekend! A cake smash is a fun and unique way to mark your baby’s first birthday. Sydney turned one on Friday and had her first dose of icing, birthday cake, sugar and more! It’s safe to say she loved it! Check out the pictures of Sydney admiring, enjoying and devouring the delicious birthday cake. Warning: these pictures are ridiculously adorable.

First Comes Love

Recently, we staged a one year anniversary party. Most couples celebrate their engagement and, of course, wedding day, but why not also celebrate an anniversary? It’s a neat and unique concept and a twist on the typical celebration, and we think it’s a special milestone to celebrate. We love any excuse for champagne and wedding cake so that was our main inspiration for the ‘party’. And glitter, lots of glitter.

A Moroccan Luxe Sip n’ See

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of working with some amazing and talented ladies to put together a Moroccan themed sip n’ see for the fabulous Seri, of Little Miss Party, and her beautiful new baby boy, Luke Mason. The party came together flawlessly and it was too much fun to plan!

To begin the planning we chose a bold and bright colour palate of navy, gold and fuchsia. Working alongside the host (and good friend), Mandy, we came up with the decor ideas including gold sequin tablecloths, gold painted mini elephants and our new favourite flowers; hot pink commercial mums. We offered guests a ‘make your own caesar’ bar, moroccan mint iced tea, and many bite sized, theme-appropriate nibbles. The menu was expertly chosen and prepared to perfection by Elyse Glaser, whom was doting the cutest baby bump at 8 months pregnant.

Hi!

Now that I have officially launched my new business and website, I thought it was also the perfect time to start writing my blog.

In September, I planned my most recent wedding for a lovely couple; Alana and Joni. They had an intimate and warm wedding ceremony and reception in a friend’s backyard surrounded by family and friends and I was honoured to be a part of it.
